Founders: Founded by Tiger Tops and Mountain Travel Nepal, both pioneers of wildlife tourism and mountain treks respectively in Nepal, the lodge was established  where the then Prince of Wales had his first rest stop on the first Royal Trek in 1980.

The Philosophy: To provide an alternate to classical trekking using a fixed based and providing a range of day hikes focussing on flora, fauna & culture. A strong commitment to regenerative tourism to support the employees and local community, protect the environment and provide a unique sense of place for the guests with impeccable service, local food and a sense of homecoming.

SUSTAINABLE INITIATIVES

A community Support Partnership Programme that is community-based and led to ensure ownership is retained by the community and not ‘donor driven.’ Mainly financial support for community initiatives in health (historic) and local schools (ongoing) as appraised by the community and the key issues. Ongoing support for the community forest committee to encourage enhanced conservation management aspects alongside sustainable extraction.

Full Regenerative Tourism Policy that covers all aspects of the lodge’s operations and activities. Recycling of all waste, zero waste to landfill, carbon reduction programme, plastic reduction programme, bio-gas, community support partnership programme, community forest partnership (in preparation), guest awareness, low flow showers, solar water heating where possible, salt pool sanitiser, RAAG (Regenerative Action Advisory Group) a staff forum to monitor regenerative programmes and recommend additional actions, local food sourcing, wildlife monitoring for conservation data, etc
